Seagate Expansion Portable 2TB HDD 2.5-Inch

Seagate 2TB Portable HDD 2.5-Inch

The Seagate portable HDD provides 2TB of convenient external storage in a compact 2.5-inch format. It connects directly to compatible computers through USB 3.0 for straightforward file storage, backup and transfer. Additionally, its compact size makes it easy to carry between locations.

Portable 2TB Storage

The Seagate 2TB Portable HDD provides substantial storage capacity without requiring an internal hard drive installation. Therefore, users can quickly add extra storage to a compatible computer or workstation.

The 2TB capacity provides space for:

• Documents and business files
• Computer backups
• Photos and media
• Large file transfers
• Exported CCTV recordings
• Archived security documentation

For example, security professionals can use the drive to transfer exported video footage between compatible systems and computers.

Seagate Portable HDD USB Connectivity

The drive uses a USB 3.0 interface for fast and convenient connectivity. In addition, it supports USB 2.0 connections where compatible.

USB 3.0 delivers the best available transfer performance for this drive. However, users can still connect it to compatible USB 2.0 equipment when required.

The USB connection handles both data transfer and power. As a result, the drive does not require a separate external power adapter.

Plug-and-Play Operation

The Seagate Portable HDD offers straightforward plug-and-play operation. Users simply connect the USB cable to a compatible computer and access the external storage.

Because the drive receives power through the USB connection, users can operate it without an additional power cable. Consequently, the compact setup works well for portable storage and temporary backup applications.

Power Supply

The USB connection powers the portable hard drive directly.

• Power Source: USB bus power
• External Power Adapter: Not required
• Connection: USB cable

Therefore, users only need the USB connection to power the drive and transfer data.

File System Compatibility

The drive uses the exFAT file system, which supports compatible Windows and macOS computers. Furthermore, exFAT makes transferring files between supported operating systems more convenient.

Professional Security Solution

Portable external storage provides a practical option when security professionals need to store or transfer exported CCTV recordings, documentation and other digital files. For instance, installers can use the drive when they need to move exported footage from a compatible system to a computer for review or archiving.

Importantly, this external portable HDD does not replace a surveillance-rated internal hard drive intended for continuous recording inside an NVR or DVR.
